Story

The Floating Island of Yggdrasil, host to one of the most massive wars in all of history between the godkind and demonkind known as the Yggdrasil Royale, plummeted to the earth below as a result of the destruction wrought. This fallen continent is where the winner of the Yggdrasil Royale—Overlord Loki—expanded his territory and founded the Asgard Empire. It has been 500 years since the Yggdrasil Royale. Unity between gods and demons in the Asgard Empire was deteriorating, quickly approaching a boiling point after the Overlord Loki vanished and the passing of the Chief God Odin.

The land is split into seven separate regions, each following one of two major political and military powers. The bigger faction is based upon the exaltation of the goddesses formed from the teachings of the imperial Senators with the backing of the Asgardian army. The smaller faction is firmly opposed to any who preach Divine Supremacy, the Demon Liberation Army consisting primarily of demonkind. On the frontlines of this civil war are the current goddesses and demons who wield powers equivalent to that of a Dark Lord, causing untold chaos and destruction wherever they clash. It was in these chaotic times that our protagonist, Vali, seeking to bring about peace and to unify the gods and demons once more, takes his first step onto the road to becoming the Conquering Overlord.

Yggdrasil Region

What was once the central region of the Floating Island that has since crashed to the earth below. This is where Valhalla Palace is situated. After the crash, the island itself came to be governed by the Asgardian royalty. The area is protected by the Goddess of War Brunhilde.

...

Helgrind Region

A forested region in the south that houses an immense amount of life energy. The northern sector has undergone some urban development, but the areas deeper within as well as the western wetlands are home to all manner of beasts, some twisted and corrupted by the Ragnarök War. The region is protected by the Goddess Fana who belongs to House Hreiðmarr, a house under the direct command of Asgard.

...

Gimlé Region

The central plains stretch so far, they disappear into the horizon. Fertile grasslands where nomads and hunters live, many citizens also live in the grain-producing regions. After the apparent death of the Overlord, the Asgardian Empire was caught up in internal struggles which resulted in the central plains being the stage to many conflicts and battles. It is currently ruled by the Goddess Flora who oversees the many powerful clans within the area.

...

Jotunheimr Region

A snowy region where the citizens live humble lives in sub-zero conditions. It is situated near the bloodiest battlefield of the Ragnarök War—Virgiz—which is even now plagued by a poisonous miasma that allows no living thing to venture close for fear of death. Although it has been a somewhat barren and poor land since the first settlers arrived, under the guidance of their idol goddess of hope Ullr, plans for industrialization accelerated and the region is slowly but surely gaining more power in the Empire.

...

Alfheim Region

Situated up steep hills and tall mountains is the entrance to the heavens, or so the rumors go. Located north of the Yggdrasil region, Alfheim is considered a sacred ground where only those of divine birth may venture. Here, the influence of the Asgardian Senate is at its peak, as they are in charge of divine affairs and politics.

...

Niðavellir Region

A dangerous wasteland that stretches for miles and miles. This land is said to be the closest to the Demon realm, with ley lines in disarray and a few small islands floating in the air. If Alfheim is considered sacred to the Divine, then Niðavellir would certainly be its counterpart, being home to many demons. One of the most decorated Demon Generals, Berg, wields a lot of power and influence in this region.

...

Virgiz Region

An accursed region that acted as the staging ground for the single most devastating battle of the Ragnarök War. Even now, the cursed miasma continues to permeate the area, and it is home to the wayward spirits of the damned, malfunctioning, and uncontrollable weapons of war. A forbidden realm in the most literal sense of the word.

Important Terminology

Overlord Loki
...

Once the youngest prince of the Utgardian Empire situated within the Demon realm, he voluntarily participated in the Dark Lord Surt's rite of succession and invaded the Floating Continent of Yggdrasil. Subjugating the Goddesses of the Four Seasons as well as his sisters and absorbing them into his forces, he eventually founded the Asgard Empire. Many of the characters who appear such as Vali or the heroines are his descendants.

Odin
...

The Chief God who once governed over Yggdrasil in the past. After Loki went missing, she ruled in his stead, keeping the peace between divine and demonic Asgardians as a bridge between the two. Her death then caused the inevitable disintegration of Asgard's peace, and the flames of war threaten to raze the lands once more.

Key of Yggdrasil
...

The secret treasure of Yggdrasil once sought after by the Dark Lord Surt. It has since passed hands from Loki over to Vali, and Vali uses its power to subjugate the goddesses and transform them into his servants.

Divine Shaft of Yggdrasil
...

The new sacred tree Yggdrasil that sprouted after the Yggdrasil Royale. Over the past 500 years, it has grown into a mighty tree once more. Taking in the prayers and wishes of the citizenry, it harbors a powerful aura within its shaft.

Yggdrasil Royale
...

The name given to the war on Yggdrasil where the Overlord Loki made a name for himself. As part of the rite of succession to the throne of the Dark Lord, Surt's successors invaded the Floating Island of Yggdrasil. Following many battles with the goddesses protecting the island and his fellow successors, Loki emerged as the victor.

Ragnarök War
...

In the distant past, this war marked the final battle between the divine and the demonic. Through countless sacrifices and bloodshed, the world was almost reduced to rubble. The effects of this war are still felt in the present day, with ruins strewn across the landscape and cursed lands that kill all who enter.

Esprit & Sutra
...

Energy derived from the feelings and raw emotions of the people. Esprit comes from prayers and faith, while Sutra comes from feelings of desire or more negative emotions. Goddesses and high level demons who make use of this power derived from humanity are considered a cut above the rest, with strict hierarchies formed based on this power... Despite the fact that without people, without humanity, their power would wither and fade away.

Spirituality
...

The potential amount of spiritual power one can hold within. For those able to convert the faith or desires of humanity into power, their spiritual capacity tends to be rather high.

Divine Gear / Dark Gear
...

Using Esprit or Sutra, these armaments can invoke phenomenon bordering on the miraculous. Equipment that only goddesses or Dark Lord-level demons with their abundant spirituality can make use of, these armaments are akin to symbols of their power.

Fimbulvetr Syndrome
...

A disease that only affects goddesses and high-level demons, as it is an illness that directly attacks one's spirituality. Any victims of this disease suffer a parasite attached directly to their spirituality that steals the host's esprit and sutra, gradually draining them to the point of debilitation or madness. A terrible illness that exacerbates the more you use your powers.

Asgard Empire
...

The largest nation currently in existence on Yggdrasil. It is the empire founded by the Overlord Loki, and its citizenry is comprised of gods, demons, and humans alike.

Utgard Empire
...

What was once the biggest empire in the Demon realm. After the death of the Dark Lord Surt, the gate to the surface was occupied by the Asgard Empire, shutting it off from the outside world. As a result, it finds itself close to ruin. However, technology from the era of the Ragnarök War is still used even in the present, and their fleet of airships is not to be underestimated.

Airship
...

A ship with flight capabilities. As they require a lot of energy to even move and a great deal of lost technology from the Ragnarök War era, not many airships are seen in the present day. Airships were often used as a weapon of war and, wanting to soften the trauma from the war caused by the destruction wrought by these ships, many were decommissioned. Even the Asgard Empire only employs a scant few airships in the present day due to this. During this war for unification of the Empire, Vali acquired an airship from his sworn ally Sieg, and it has become his forward command center for all intents and purposes.

Divine Supremacy
...

The belief in Divine Supremacy can be summarized as the principle that arose to ostracize demonkind by the divine following the disappearance of the Overlord Loki and the death of the Chief God Odin. The faction supporting Divine Supremacy was one that, on the surface, wholeheartedly supported the Asgardian Empire and actively aided their leaders in political matters. But behind the scenes, it was in reality a puppet faction that was under the direct control of the Asgardian Senate. The idea of gods and demons coexisting was akin to oil and fire existing alongside each other, and now that the two beings who could serve as a bridge between the two sides were gone, it was only a matter of time before civil war erupted.
